I haven't had too much trouble with the law, even with my car being three different colors, loud, and smelly.
My experience with cops is that the older, more seasoned officers are usually cool. Its the young guys with something to prove that are the pricks. And of course, if you're being a jackass, they're gonna be a prick no matter what.

Your fine as long as you sware under punishment of banning from every subaru sight that you shall never pull over a subaru ('specially a Leg) or anyone who is simply speeding. If they are driving drunk then you can haul their ass away. AND I PROMISE YOU THAT I WILL FLASH MY BRIGHTS ANYTIME I SEE YOU!!!! AS TO WARN OTHERS!!!!

hahahahaha ok deal.
oh don't worry. i want to be a cop, but i do everything you'd expect a person who doesn't like cops to do. i've run from them before when i've gone speeding by them and i've flashed my brights to let other people know about them. i have a radar detector so i can know when they're in the area haha.

at least your not in my boat. I got stop in a 50km zone. I know the cop pulled me over for putting on my high beams (must of had a bad night or something). Well long story short the cops gives me a ticket for going 116km in a 50zone... Now in BC i have whats called an N this means with this level of ticket i could stand to loss my license. Im fighting it but if i loss im SCREWED.
Oh and to state the fact, i was going 50. I got the ticked in Jan. on a day that the roads were all iced over. as if i was going 116km Im not crazy

in ct as long as your clean sober no drugs or anything.. the key is to not sign the ticket... they'll tell you you have to sign it but you don't... thats an admits. of guilt and once you sign it your cooked... so don't sign they'll do the "do we have to call for backup" shit but if you got pulled for speeding they're not they can do... this is a trick i got from a judge it can sometimes be a pain at that moment but your already facing a charge so stay calm and don't sign you'll be good.. i did this in a car with open bottles and what not (not drinking.. if driver blows clean passengers can drink in ct )(cool law) anyways hope that helps.. the best thing to do is just stay calm answer there questions with one of your own like " i'm i free to go or am i being held for somthing?" they all try and get you to tell them somthing thats why they talk with you so don't speek...

heh, they always say, "sign here, it's not an admission of guilt. . " Is what he's referring to something Connecticut specific? I have always had to sign, just to get away.
Dupont is NOT a little hick town. I've cruised thru on a couple of occasions (on bike and in my car) and not only is it home to the Intel chip plant (full of scientists) the town is where many of them reside in very nice homes with veeeerrryyy lovely daughters. It does have a quint feel to it, though. . .

Well... the continue-continue-subpoena strategy worked

. The ticket was dismissed on account of a trooper failing to appear. Thanks for all your help and advice, board.
btw, does anyone have experience w/ a Valentine one? Is it worth the cost?

Eh I've heard they're great.
I personally just have a Cobra (radar detector, not the snake lol). I haven't had a speeding ticket since I got it. It's saved me at least 10 times within the past two years, so it's more than paid itself off.

My only speeding ticket was right after my 18th birthday, when I was caught doing 107mph in my first car. Not much use trying to contest that one

I just stopped feeling the insurance burn from that one about a year ago
I do 80 - 90 about 3/4s of the time I'm on the highway, and I do ALOT of driving (sometimes 3000 a month for work, across most of the eastern states). I've blasted past almost every speed trap I've noticed with the speedo firmly only the 80 mark, and not a single speeding ticke (obviously not including my indiscretion at 18 ). I chalk it up to insane luck. And my awesome afro, it's as if they see me and think "That guy is fly, so we'll let him fly by".

He should have ticketed the BMW for being a left lane bandit.

I've noticed something over the course of my seven years on the road. Everytime I have tried to bullshit a cop, I got a big, fat stinkin ticket. Since adopting the "you can't bullshit the cop so don't even try" method, I have recieved nothing but warnings. My dad's best friend was a traffic cop for 30 years and he gave me the best advise to date. They know all the stories because they've heard and shared them all. They can smell stupid as soon as you open your mouth.
All I do is simply -
-Agree that the offense in question is hazardous to situation/others.
-Give reason why offense occured while immediately acknowledging it is not a good excuse.
-Apologize for having head in ass. (If you have an unrestrained ego this may definitely be a problem.)
-Let officer figure out what to do.
-Thank officer for whatever he decides to do.
So far, it has worked. Once when I was doing 45 through a residential 25 w/kids playing within sight of road. It was the last car of the day and I wanted to get the car to the shop so we could get done quick. Smokey told me to cool it and expect a ticket next time.
The second time was more recent. I was following someone doing 10 to 15 over, left lane, up a big hill on the interstate and I had a fried headlight plug. State patrol flies up on my right side just as I'm taking a tokey toke. It ended up being too dark out for him to see anything, but still was quite freaky. When I told him, respectfully, that I wasn't paying too much attention to my speed, just following traffic, he agreed with me (that it looked like that was what I was doing). That was the absolute truth (minus admitting the toke). Before he could even bring up the headlight issue, I was telling him that I had just discovered the problem (fried plug)that night at my previous destination and showed him my phone log which listed the call ten minutes earlier to my brother in which I asked him to go outside and scam the headlight plugs off my parts car and bring them into work the next day. Again, more honesty. I figured he was going to give me a ticket because the state's broke as a joke and troopers rarely are known to give any sort of breaks. Plus, he was a young guy. I just hoped the honesty would lessen the damage he could write me for. He instead gives me a written warning for both offenses, and not even the kind that requires you to prove you fixed it. The fact that I was wearing my Milwaukee Police windbreaker at the time might have had some positive effect, but could have easily made things worse instead.
The moral of the story, I guess, is don't treat the cop like a douchebag if you don't want to be treated the same. Probably won't get you out of every situation, but chances are they'll respect you a little better. All they really want at the end of the day is to not scrape up another person's loved one from the concrete. And that's something all of them have seen.
