hahaha yup $200 for the entire kit. they're brand new, except being sold at a little above the actual cost to make them i guess.
apparently the tleg and wrx have pretty much the same transmission. so they are both hydraulic and pull type.
so i just went onto that online store and got an exedy stage 1 clutch for a wrx. i just got it today and the clutch fits on the splines and everything well. now i've installed it onto the back of my engine and all i have to do is get an engine hoist and drop that sucker in there.

i give up on life.
i put the pilot bearing into the flywheel then i installed the clutch and pressure plate using the allignment tool. i put the release bearing on the transmission shaft and installed the clutch fork on it with the pin through the fork.
i've jacked up the transmission so it is in perfect allignment with the engine. i even removed the bracket holding the downpipe to the transmission (just so the DP wouldn't interfere).
the engine STILL won't go on. i've tried rotating the crank pulley.
wtf am i doing wrong?!
it seems to me that the tranny snout just won't go in. do i just have to shake the shit out of the engine to get it to go in?

Keep rotating the engine back and forth and puting it onto the tranny. It'll go on, assuming there's nothing physically in the way. Make sure the dowels are smooth, and not rusted, spray some WD on them if they're bad. How far away is the engine? Is the tranny up and supported? Is everything at the right angle?
yeah the tranny and engine angles are matched.
i can get the engine and tranny about an inch apart from each other. then it just stops like it's hitting something.
do i need to do more wiggling?

Uh, the wrx uses a different size clutch plate then the OEM SS tranny does. Did you install a WRX flywheel too?
The WRX clutch disc is a tiny bit bigger, it was always my understanding that you had to change the flywheel, pp and disc. That's what I did at least when I went with a wrx setup.
If the wrx kits work with the OEM EJ22T flywheel, that'd be great to know. I hope you don't have any issues down the road though.

haha well now you guys have me scared. i didn't know i would need the flywheel. but whatever. that engine is staying together for right now. i messed around with pulling it out and putting it in for 2 weeks. i'm done. lol.
so far it seems to drive just fine. but if something happens i'll definitely get on here and tell everyone that you NEED the wrx flywheel. until then, the stock flywheel seems to work lol....
and for anyone looking for a cheap, but reliable brand name clutch... go here http://stores.ebay.com/gripforce-clutches_Subaru_

According to all the sites ive been reading the WRX and SS clutches are both 230mm OD and the pressure plate PN i bought are the same part #'s. I list my ACT heavy duty PP SB012 working for both 91-94 turbos and 02-05 wrx. I also tested the PP/clutch on both my stock and a wrx fly and they are exactly the same fitment. I opted to use my SS fly since its a one piece vs the two piece wrx.legacy92ej22t wrote:Uh, the wrx uses a different size clutch plate then the OEM SS tranny does. Did you install a WRX flywheel too?
