to get the rear two out of the motor...you use a really long hook-y thingy that catches the wrist pin and pulls it out from the front pin access hole. They also use really long skinny pliers that subaru now makes for this procedure for the retainer springs. Its ingenious.

If you drop an Auto, you will drain the tranny when you remove the driveline. Unless the subaru is different than any other Tranny... every driveline Ive ever pulled (including that of a 1984 Subaru GL) released the gear oil or ATF from the tranny.

Dropping a tranny isnt that bad tho.. unless your under it. And lifting it back into place is a bigger pain in the ass than re-connecting a few fuel lines.

I just realized you thought I meant pull the head from the bottom. That's the complicated way. Pull it from the top. You don't need a lift to pull a head.

Also, plug up the prop shaft hole when you remove it and nothing comes out.
