Have the Kartboy bolts in my current car. The nice thing is that you can hammer the sleeves up into the subframe before you install the bolts.

I like the wire brush in a drill idea. Wish I had that when I did mine. I think you guys might have more rust issues where you live because I just used Qtips and parts blaster to clean mine and that obviously doesn't get into the threads very well. Great mod. Certainly makes things more solid and it makes the car much louder and you feel every pebble in the road afterwards.

Those bolts will not work as subframe lock bolts btw.

Why not? Or do you mean they won't work without sleeves?

I think he probably means you won't be able to center the hole without the tapered sleeves.

exactly. a bolt is, well, just a bolt. The subframe lock bolts have sleeves to center the subframe relative to the chassis in addition to keeping it from moving around.

They're also not really that expensive.

You can use some off-the-shelf 3/4" OD bronze bushings instead of the sleeves, though. Not as nice as the tapered sleeves, but cheaper: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/BUNTIN ... ing-12R804

I think you'd have to modify the bushings with a taper. Due to how the subframe sits, I'm not sure just using the standard bushing would work.

so buy those bolts, and the bushings, and you've spent $22 without shipping, and the bushings probably don't fit right. Why not spend an extra couple of dollars on kartboy or whiteline bolts again?

That was my thinking. Seems more of a hastle to go to the store and buy these bolts and bushings when the kartboy ones can be had for only $32 and you know they'll fit properly.
