To me, the 20G just has wow factor. You pay top dollar to have one in your possesion, & if something lets go and ruins the block, you're screwed. On the other hand as mentioned above, the 22E is very easy to locate in just about any junkyard if you need a replacement block.

I don't think there is any wow factor to a EJ20G, its not a EJ207 or EJ257.

Sensor-wise the way I use mine everything is ej22t.
Timing belts should be the same old DOHC belts, Wiseco makes pistons for early EJ20s so that should not be a problem, & rods are the same eagles that the ej18, ej20, & ej22 all use.

Heads on WRX EJ20G should be more of the same old stuff, but Legacy EJ20Gs have the crazy rocker arms that may be tough-impossible to find parts for.

That said all 4 cyls are $77 (ej22e, ej22ts, ..... if you can find one) @ my local u-pull-it.

The "wow" factor to me is most people can say they have a true JDM motor in their car. Also, the heads were more of what I was saying with "if you mess it up, you're screwed"... Sorry for not clarifying that one.

I've never had any trouble finding an Ej20G when I need one. Plus if you fuck one up, you can just buy an Ej20h. Virtually the same engine once you cap off the second set of oil and coolant lines for turbo #2. There's really nothing rare about the old JDM engines any more. Finding the rare variants like an RS-RA or an early STi-RA for less than a king's ransom is getting harder but finding plain jane Ej20G's is easy.
