so the harness side of #3 and #4 are not used and the ecu side of map gnd is not used too right?
also both red wires, 1 out and 3 out connect to #1&2 on the harness side
and both blue wires, 2 out and 4 out connect to #3&4 on the harness side right?
if so then all im waiting for is my ecu to get in then i can send it to rob!

Logan, why dont you just skip that whole rewiring biz and just convert to COP like me

? It was very simple, and from the looks of it, i got a more intense spark then what my coil pack used to do.

Yup.

I don't have one in front of me right now, but that sounds correct. I made a mistake in the original, but it should be correct as of now. You may need to read the text of my post to be sure.

I didn't make any changes to the MAF wiring. I believe you only have to make changes if you wish to run the JECS with the EJ22T ECU.

So i'm just in the process of wiring this up. Quick question:
I got one ignitor and plug sitting in one of my parts boxes out in the garage. Can I just cut off my current ignitor on the car and use that near the ecu. SO the question is can and how do I bypass the current ignitor just by joining the harness wires and avoid gutting the current ignitor?
Thx eh

IIRC, The ignitor is maked with the ins and outs. Just match them up properly when cutting out the connector.

PhyrraM, thanks for the write up. If you still remember, would you mind providing your source for the patch harness? I'm not too familiar with them and I would like to be sure I get the correct one.

would this also work with 1 hitachi unit (stock one) and a 1 diamond GB-003? instead of both hitachi units?
Basically; is the 22438AA030 dis4-03 ignitor interchangeable/same as the diamond J142/GB-004 (later model n/a)?

I would guess it should be interchangable.

Hi if it helps i got my two ignitor's ! One is from a 93 legacy and one from a 95 impreza they seem to be the same. My only question is doing this conversion harness to run a 20g ecu on my 91 ss will this all i really need to do to properly run my ej20g swap

Are you planning to keep the stock ignition coil or convert to individual ignition coils?

Ok so for some reason I am having trouble understanding how to install the 4 channel ignitor to the ECU. Obviously it isn't hard because everyone is doing. The diaghram shows 2 ignitors and not just the one 4 channel.
So one side should go to the ECU and one side to the coil. I understand that
And here is a picture of my EJ20 4 channel ignitor that I would like to install. 4 pins on one side 5 on the other.
After searching more I found this thread and it may have helped me out.
Here
so the 4 wires will represent (COIL) Pin 9 and 10, So wires 1&3 will go to pin 9 and 2&4 to pin 10 on coil side?
the 5 pin side (ECU) has the black/ground, red/power, yellow/green/ 1&3 Pin7&9?, green/white 2/4? Pin8&10, and then the 5th wire isn't used.
Now the yellow/green and green/white will both have to be split to create 4 wires?
How does that sound?
Or is it possible I am looking at the ignitor backwords and 4 side is ECU and 5 side is COIL? Which now that I think about it probably makes more sense.

Tony, I'll have to look at the wiring diagrams when I get home. I didn't see anything in that thread.

Maybe somebody need in the future help to this metal ignitor.
Part no. is 22438AA060
Used with coil which is integrated into the spark plug.
(one ignition coil per cylinder)
http://jp-carparts.com/subaru/part_deta ... 22438AA060
And the working schema is the following:
input: five wire from the ecu the no. 5 is the common ground (common emitter) for the four transistor.
the other four is the basis for the four transistor
output: four wire to the four ignition coil. (this is the collectors of the transistor)
