I do not really care for Subaru 5spds so I plan on a high stall converter & v-body for the 4eat which should allow me to build boost on launch safely.
IPT says their modded t-converter should improve 1/4 mile times by about 1 second which is good enough for me!
Do you plan on doing this to a SS auto tranny? If so I say don't go to IPT for the valve body. You can get a shift kit for the SS vavle body (which is not the same as other autos). My buddy is using the Transgo Reprogramming kit.
If you took it off and brought it to a competant tranny shop if should be much cheaper than what IPT wants for it.

Interesting, is that on a manual tranny? I'm guessing you have at least the pre-turbo cat removed, how about post turbo cat(s)?
manual tranny, all cats gone.

I just texted my buddy to find out for sure. You ARE using an SS auto tranny right? They are a completely different, and better beast than any NA autos.

Not to get too off topic but what's different (specifically)? I know of the TC but what else? Just curious since I never found the answer myself.

The turbo Trannys are built to a higher spec. than N/A.
They have extra clutches in the Forward, High, and Transfer(4wd) clutch packs
and The Servo Piston For the 2nd-4th band has a larger apply area for more force on the band. and there are some small differences in the Valve body calibration also. And The N/A Torque Converter is a smaller diameter and requires a different flexplate.

Appreciated! I've got my 2004 5mt swap with SPEC stage 3 ready to go in. Just need to drill firewall etc

TD05-16g on my legacy SS hits 9psi at about 2700ish, depending on the gear I'm in.
But I'm looping the compressor pressure outlet straight to the wastegate actuator, so I think I'm getting some lag from that.
