Great to see this car coming along! When I first looked at the pictures I wondered why you had gotten a new uppipe, since these cars have a catless uppipe. Broken stud explains it though... those studs can be a huge bitch once they're rusty and old!

Wow dude, that is coming together really nicely. Out of all of the parts you purchased did most of them have to be modified?

Very little had to be modified actually. The Y-pipe for the top mount intercooler and the mid pipe from the exhaust (Legacys are longer than Imprezzas) also had to get GC Spring perches for the front Struts (due to spring choice).... think thats about it realy.

$2500 for a trans rebuild Plus new torque converter and second gear band. They knocked my charge pipe out of place and I think unplugging the battery reset the Piggyback Engine management cause now she runs like shit. Fenders are marred. I assume the guy working on her wore jeans with riveted seams. The nipple for the vacume hose on the Bypass valve is now broken.... Less than pleased is the understatement of the century. Im giving my self a couple days to cool off and I'm gonna call the owner.

Bummer. Sounds similar to my experience with Speedware Motorsports. Won't ever go back there again.

aaaand another company makes my blacklist.

Baxter's auto parts will no longer be receiving my business.

Trying to get my car to appropriate running condition after Aamco had their way with her. Something new popes up. T-bolt clamp for the intercooler-Throttle body coupler is stripped. take my spare coupler and head to baxters. guy breaks out a measuring tape. checks the coupler. orders the part. wait 24 hours. Get the part. Cost me $20 as they can only get them in pairs.

Get home. guess what? Fucking coupler is to big. Put car back together. hobble to Baxters AGAIN.

Of course they'd be glad to order me another set of couplers, but its going to be another 24 hours and there is a $6 restocking fee.

Let me get this right. You want me to swallow 30% of the cost because you ordered the wrong part? Sorry sir. but thats the way we have to do business. Oh? well you wont be doing business with me.

Went to NAPA and bought a $2 hose clamp. ill order the correct parts and replace the by then chewed up coupler when I have more time and money. What ever happened to companies that cared about their customers?

That's why I stick with siliconeintakes.com. Basically shops and auto parts stores suck and don't give a fuck anymore so fuck em. The internets has always got my back, granted there's a waiting period for shipping.

I have to agree—the few times I've had any interactions with internet businesses, the customer service has been excellent. Brick and mortar, which should be pushing their only advantage—customer service (I could say that there's no wait on shipping, but I rarely find what I'm looking for at a B&M and have to order it anyway and probably costs more than being able to select from multiple online vendors. Internet orders are also MA sales tax free ((6.25%)), which offsets the shipping), but that seems to have gotten worse in most cases. Unfortunately, services can't be delivered in a box.

Jesus. Somebody Kill me. She broke down a few weeks ago. First time shes left me on the side of the road. Engine was cutting out bad. when I got her home I noticed Fuel all over the engine, in particular on one of the injectors. I assumed id lost one of the O-rings. After sitting on my ass not fixing it for a week I finally had her towed to the local Subaru specialists. They found a busted fuel line, But the car had developed a miss (I think their referring to to the lope that started a couple months back) and wanted to investigate. Feeling generous as I was expecting a much larger issue than a fuel line I gave them the ok.

Three weeks of excuses later I show up to the shop to find out what the hell is going on. I find her on the shops back lot. The mechanics are gone, The guy in the office plays the stupid card and starts calling around looking for the mechanic. Between phone calls I get out of him that she has been labled "Low priority". I was ready to just take her home at that Point so I asked if she was all together and he replyed "Yeah, but it doesnt run". At some point in the passed three weeks she stopped running and they didnt know why, they also didnt bother to inform me. As im listening to all this Im looking over the mechanics rather impressive placard of certifications from Subaru. I was fit to take a tire iron to someone at that point. I was so mad I decided I needed to get the hell out of there before I did something stupid. I told the guy behind the counter to square it up and Id be returning tomorrow to collect my car one way or another.

I'm seriously ready to hurt someone. This is the third shop that has returned my car to me in worse shape than I left it. I need to stop entrusting my car to other people. Now my car doesnt run AT ALL and I have no idea what they did to her.

$4000 in the passed six months have gone to pay mechanics to not repair my car.

**Edit** Some of the $4000 was actually earned, I'm just in a REAL pissy mood.

Such was my experience with a shop the one and only time I've ever taken a vehicle to a shop to get something fixed and I won't ever do it again. Not to mention I never hear anything but bad stories about people taking their cars in and when I hear the prices they were charged for the jobs that were done poorly I'm astounded.

Best bet would be to get your car as quickly as possible and if you brought it to them in running condition and now it's not you better not pay them and you should probably talk to a lawyer.

Got her back yesterday. *rolls eyes* Timing belt covers and windshield washer resivoir in the back seat. battery dead as shit. engine has white corosion on it... looks like it was left outside with the hood up for an extended period.

Put her on a trickle charger over night.

This morning get up. reinstall the battery. engine turns over but wont start and is kicking like its out of time. Pull the PP6 and bridge the harness. she fires right off. Engine cuts out at more that light throttle. but she runs. Dont think the turbo is spooling at all.

New engine codes. 44 and 51.

That is such a beat! Sorry to hear. Two shops I'd highly recommend are Hawthorne Auto Clinic on SE 42nd & Hawthorne & maybe Mt. Tech in Oregon City. My good friend who is a big time Legacy enthusiast works at Hawthorne Auto Clinic owns a couple 1G turbo's. Best of luck. Mine is off the road atm too :(

Turbo seems to be spooling normally now. Think it was partially seized or something.

However car looses power severly when the turbo comes up. noticed that My AFR drops to about 9.6 when the turbo begins to loose boost.

anyone got a link to optimal AFR ratings?

also.. the O2 sensor is post Cat. Not sure how much a high flow cat changes AFR readings.

*edit* after thinking about it. after all these mods I seem to be getting less fuel. Im thinking the fuel filter may be partially plugged limiting the amount of fuel. so she runs fine but when the demand for fuel goes up the system cant comply resulting in the engine going lean and not developing power. Im gonna go get a new one tomorrow. if im right, cool beans, if im wrong.. the filter probably could have used a change anyways and their pretty cheap so no loss.

Did the grill myself. (my first Fiberglass job) its not perfect but looks great unless you get real close.

Exhaust is real quiet, dead quiet upto Wide open throttle. Then its just kinda a mellow rumble. (I like it that way, I can open up to blow through a yellow light before it changes without alerting any police that arent directly in line of sight) Poke around in the pics and multimedia section (Or Youtube Turbo Legacy exhaust) plenty of differant vids floating around showing off the sweet exhaust note of an uncorked Flat4

The headlights I bought from a member here on the board named Timo. Keep an eye on the Partsshed. they creep up pretty often!
