I'd say the majority of the Texas peeps are on Nasioc/TXIC. They used to do state meets & cruises, but there hasn't been one in a while. I think there may have been an old school cruise in Austin last summer.

Yeah, I'm not a big NASIOC person. I haven't been on there in a long time, but there are some good normal people in TXIC.....there's also some super car dorks, but you have that everywhere. If I hear of anything going on, I'll let you know.

New update!!

Just about 4000 miles after rebuild and she got dark tinted windows and then she dies. On the highway I started hearing a knocking, pulled over and she quit. I can start her up and she will idle but has a stumble and knocks. No smoke, no leaks, and oil shows to be on the stick but I have not looked much more into it. I just found some old beers and am going to cry for a bit before I do anything.

Sell? Thought creeps up on me at night....

Danger that sucks man. Sounds like there's a spark plug missing and you're looking compression.

I noticed your AC compressor was on as well. I'm assuming it still makes the noise with the AC off?

A/C off and she still screams bloody murder. I just moved her into the garage for surgery but have not found the time or ambition. Just bought a 4Runner for a grand and got an offer for 3 grand for it so I may just make some extra cash to save her. Plus I just saw pics for the satin black leggy with the lips and skirts which got me back in the groove. I hope to start soon.

And going to COBB tomorrow for a BBQ so I am going to get some ideas

You know if they ever have any state meets any more, we'd actually have more than one turbo Legacy there :) There's another guy here in Houston too if he showed up :)

There's an event down in Houston on the 1st of October. I'm hoping to get my ECU back from New Zealand by then.

Started the fun of figuring out where the cat is inside my engine screaming for help.I did a compression test and got 120, 120, 90, 100. Thats counterclockwise start with front left cylinder. I also had some fun with my new bumper that made the trip from CO to TX. I found it on craigslist for 50 bucks with beam and fogs. Also had to see intercooler but it won't go on for a while.

Also anyone know if silicone sweats oil. It just seems like all my hoses are oily and leaking but can;t find source.

Certain silicone may not be the best for oil use.

Check out my thread here for info on some relatively cheap rubber emissions hose.

Well I stripped a driveplate bolt and am stuck. Easy out doesn't work just snapped and a gator grip got one but not the other. This is becoming way too difficult.

New plans

EJ22T Block

Stock crank

STI rods

Wiseco, Mahle, or CP Pistons Not sure yet since I can't seem to figure out what size I am going to ultimately need.

Heads? Also have no clue. Use my rebuilt stock ones or go DOHC?

Too many questions it makes it hard to sleep at night

Just ordered some side skirts off a 2004 outback and now looking for a prelude rear lip. I know you can make them into just side 'mud gaurds' or valences. Does anyone know if you could use the actual mugen valences for the 5th gen prelude

Way to stick with it man, love the updates and the car, sorry about the set back though! If nobody has told you yet there are steel sleeves in the block that make up the cyl. bores and if they overheat I've herd of them spinning in the block like your first motor did. My roomate is about to get his car tuned and the guy that built the engine is a huge 2.2 turbo freak and he says that the first thing he checks for when he gets a new block is spun sleeves.

Thanks. Ya set backs just keep coming but i am trying to push to get back on the road.

If a sleeve is spun is it possible to use it?

Bolt is still stripped and now is rounded to the point nothing will work. Easy-out just snapped off inside the bolt. Gator grip got one but the other is stuck. I tried to get it hot and break it loose but my propane torch cannot go at that angle because it just puffs out.

Got presents in the mail though!

I got the engine out and one head off. Does it seem too dirty for only having 4k on the rebuild?

I just took the other head off and same thing, dirty! also one cylinder was very wet but it doesn't seem like oil or coolant and I would think fuel would have evaporated by now so not sure yet on that. I also can hear a light thud when I turn the crank. If I put a finger on the piston I feel it jump a tiny bit when TDC and BDC

It's a little carbony.

You shouldn't feel the piston jump. Kind of sounds like an issue with a bearing or piston wrist pin. Unfortunately without digging further, it'd be hard to tell. Have you taken the oil pan and windage tray off to see if you see anything?
