Gentleman,
I just saw this thread this weekend. Thought I'd drop a picture or two for you. The original plan was to have the mold pulled this weekend but after trying the new materials for the S13 sunroof I discovered I need a little more resin than I have - should be coming in on Friday hopefully. Regardless I have a race on the 7/8 and the mold has to get done before then so I can have a hood

.
The scoop still needs just a tad work to clean up some of the contour now that it's grafted onto the hood but you can see the general shape/style. I have a few ideas for those that want no scoop or the option for a WRX scoop. Production parts are still several months out in all honesty (I need to run mine and make sure all is well before selling any - and I still owe everyone sunroofs). But, thought you might like the pictures.
And for those curious about the mold process itself -
Surface Coat
First Plies
Compound (for stiffness/strength)
Final Plies
Let me know if anyone has questions or feedback and I'll be repeating most of this information in the Vendor Forum as well.
Thank you,
Lee

Any forward movement on construction of a hood CF or fiberglass?
I started making a custom hood scoop to try and create a solution to the lack of air being forced over my TMIC. My design replicates the one that came on the Australian models (Liberty). Created a two prototypes but haven't gotten to a finished point yet. I suppose I should get back on this project.

I wonder if a NACA-type scoop would work or if it's too low a pressure zone there, but something like the front of an Alfa Romeo Montreal, but not fake, of course, and set back on the hood. OR the scoop could be located in the front to take advantage of the high pressure with a channel for the air to go back to the TMIC. I don't know if this would require a raised center section, but I think where you'd be saving the space the bracing would otherwise take up, it wouldn't be necessary. Would be different, at least, lower drag than a standing scoop and more effective at best.

I'd be interested in a carbon version of the hood. I would prefer the stock scoop, but would consider a different scoop as well. I would not be interested in the scoopless version.
