Internet Bid Fee
Copart offers bidding kiosks in the lobbies of all of its facilities. These kiosks can be used to
place preliminary bids on vehicles located at that particular yard. If a winning bid was placed on
a vehicle using a kiosk located at that yard, no internet fees are assessed against that vehicle.
If the winning high bid was placed during Preliminary Bidding via the internet or during the live,
virtual auction, Copart charges an Internet Bid Fee to the high bidder. The fee is based upon
the high bid amount: a fee of $35.00 for sale prices from $1.00 up to $999.99, a fee of $50.00
for sale prices from $1,000.00 - $1,999.99, a fee of $75.00 for sale prices of $2,000.00 or
higher.
Gate Fee
A $30.00 Gate/Loading Fee is assessed to all vehicles. This fee covers the movement of the
vehicle from Copart’s sale/storage facilities to the buyer’s loading area. For buyers whom are
picking up the vehicle with vehicle transporters, this fee covers the time and manpower required
to assist the driver in loading the vehicle onto the truck. Drivers are 100% responsible for
securing their load at all times.
Additional Fees (if applicable):
If a vehicle and all applicable fees are not completely paid within 3 business days of purchase
including the sale day, a fee of $50.00 per vehicle will be assessed. In addition, storage will
begin to accrue on vehicles at the rate of $20.00 per day after 7 days, including sale day, if the
high bid was placed over the internet or after 3 days, including the sale day, if the high bid was
placed during preliminary biding using a kiosk at the yard.
From my research, I've found that broker fees are in addition to Copart's fees, even bidding online. I've tried to bid on 'broker only' lots without success. Various brokers have differing fees.dscoobydoo wrote:If you bid off the internet, there is no broker fee, but an internet fee. I have bought from them before on the internet. I paid the extra fees that are posted above. Expect to do some work on the car or part it out, but you can go check out the car before you buy if you are local.

Admittedly, I'm not completely familiar with how it all works.
Drew, if you know how to avoid the broker fees online, I'm all ears.
Okay. I'm kinda getting it now. Just bought a car for $550 +$150 buyer fee and the same internet and gate fees.dscoobydoo wrote:
When I got my current 00 OBS from Copart, the only fees I paid were: Buyer Fee, Internet fee and the gate fee.
I think the broker fees come from buying from someone other than Copart directly.
But I think that being a regular joe, you can only bid on the open auctions that tend to be under about 2-4K.
I paid $850 for the car and got out of the lot for under 1100. So that pretty much tells me the fees are the only three posted above.

I looked into the broker lots. Essentially, you 'hire' a broker to bid on your behalf and pay whatever fees the broker demands. What I don't understand is why some lots are 'broker only' and others are open for public bid.
