Based on what Douglas Vincent has put the open deck block through, it'll handle way more than stock boost levels. I think Doug was running close to 400 awhp on an open deck with insane amounts of boost and E85. He killed more motors just from playing around. I think he finally killed the open deck when it actually split the cylinder liner.

You can check out his old threads for the success and carnage he left behind :)

Yeah, I've read through his thread before.

That doesn't mean it would be long-term daily driver reliable too much above stock boost levels. :P Doug was pulling and rebuilding his motors every couple thousand miles. I would be willing to bet that a good condition EJ22 open-deck block on 9psi (or more) with EJ22T pistons would live a nice healthy 200,000+ mile life just like a factory EJ22T.

As long as it will last 5-6 months I'd be happy. That gives me the chance to save up to rebuild my 22t the way I want to.

If you got a good EJ22 block it would last that long no problems.

Doug's issues were more tuning and the fact he couldn't leave the more boost knob alone ;)
