So I need to research wastegate pressure on a VF34. Maybe TD05 16G if that's the way I go. What's a good source for wastegate actuators?

I doubt you will have to go below wastegate pressure. Most springs on the turbos you are looking at should be in the range of 7-10 psi. I don't recall having any more boost than that when I ran wastegate on the vf39 (~10psi) and td05-16g (~7psi).

The nice thing about a standalone is that eventually you can start tinkering with the fuel map. It is the easiest to grasp theoretically, and a wideband O2 gauge is all you need to adjust it. On road trips you can trim the fuel a little to the lean side and stay out of boost. You can then get really good mileage off the fuel. I always run high 15's in the AFRs on road trips. Anything below 16.1:1 in light load/cruise is safe. It's the threshold where the car starts to feel like its hesitating.

Also, advancing timing in areas of light load and cruise makes your fuel go further. This can not be done safely without a dyno, but demonstrates the flexability contained withing a standalone system.

Anybody know anything about the PE1818 turbo? With the standalone I could swing it, but what about with the Rob Tune? It would flow more at lower boost, more than likely, so I would have to limit peak boost, in order to keep it within spec with the MAF, right? Anybody mess with one of these?
