Let us know how it goes with that Egay turbo. I've heard both success and horror stories with them, but never with a Subie-specific turbo.

well i got the turbo installed ran it for awhile and drove it tonight. ill wait about 300 miles before i get into boost. i hooked up the stock bcs and am going to let the ecu control boost for the time being. we will see how it goes.

Fleabay turbos FTL. I got a nice TD04 you can have for cheap - the one on my car when you drove it.

The more i think about it im wondering if my turbo oil line is clogged. Thats the o ly logical explanation i can give until i take the turbo off.

Ok I have an update now but first a HUGE thanks goes out to miketracy for shipping me out a td04 and it getting to me in 2 days so I can get back on the road. MUCH APPRECIATED.

I believe my theory was proved, the td05 was starved of oil. In the picture you will see 2 banjo bolts. the one on the left is the banjo Mike sent with the td04 and the banjo on the right is the banjo i previously had. Notice the size of the hole on the side. the bolt on the left is large and is on BOTH sides of the bolt. The hole on the right bolt is tiny and there is only ONE hole. Those bolts are for the oil line ON THE HEAD. Now the banjo that bolts to the turbo, it's a small hole like the bolt on the right in the picture. My thoughts are because of 2 tiny holes on each bolt, the turbo was starved of oil. It's just a thought but i feel like this is a correct assumption as to why the td05 failed. Maybe i'm wrong. here's the pic.

Mike is a great guy. I'm glad he was able to help you out and get your car running again. ;)

Yeah, that original banjo bolt's hole is way too small for a proper volume of oil to flow through the compressor bearings. I wouldn't be surprised if that was your issue. It's remarkably reminiscent of the banjo screen issues that the '05+ EJ255 had with poor oiling to the turbo due to oil deposits blocking the screen.

Ball bearing turbos require much less oil pressure. I wonder if thats what its for.

Maybe but i never realized that banjo. The banjo from the head goes ALL the way back to me having my vf11

Should I find a banjo bolt with a bigger hole for the turbo as well so they're both open more?

This morning i took the td05 apart. I'll be replacing the turbine and compressor wheel seeing as the turbine got a little and warped itself some where the journal bearings float on the shaft. the compressor wheel is a little ate up but not much there's a slightly larger gap between the wheel and the housing. As stated above, I'm definitely going to buy the Mitsubishi OEM rebuild kit so i get genuine parts and a genuine turbine. I'm on the fence about maybe getting a billet wheel. and of course I will also have to find a shop that rebuilds them so I can have them balance it for me.

I'm running the same stock banjo bolts on my TD05 as I was on my vf11 and knock on wood I haven't had any issues. I know you don't want TOO much oil going through the turbo, but couldn't tell you how much is the right amount. I wonder if something got lodged in the small hole that starved the turbo for oil.

Its possible. Whats our normal oil pressure? Im tginking about going down to williams oil filter and getting a ss braided oil line made. And seeing what i gotta do about hooking up an oil gauge.

Oil pressure at the stock pressure switch location can get up into the 70-80 psig. That's pretty common and what I see from my ECU & oil pressure sensor.

Well oil pressure should be something i feel i should monitor now. Maybe i will monitor it at the turbo to see how its doing eventually.

Turbo timer I wouldn't use but the electronic boost controller would be pretty cool.

My alarm has a turbo timer built in so i wont be using the blitz. I'm excited to install the Dual SBC tho

what are you doing with the hot side housing? and was the exhaust wheel good still? if so ill buy both of those off of you
