i know this is quite a bump, BUT i wanted to say congrats since i hadnt seen your finished product and i talked to you while you were working on it.

now my question- how did you get that WRX intercooler to fit!? i cant fit mine!
also, your still using the 1.8 throttle body, is that what allowed you to use the stock BOV placement? i thought it usually will hit the throttle bracket.

you havent been active on the forums lately, but i hope ya make it back! ;)

Thanks, Natoe. Yeah I picked up a project 2g Eclipse again. So finishing that up while I have a good running Impreza.

Yes I had to use the 1.8 throttle body for a number of reasons. It makes the engine swap very easy if using the 1.8 engine harness (No need to rework the ISC and IAC). Also it gives plenty of room as you mentioned for a stock and most aftermarket BOV's. Plenty. To get my WRX intercooler to fit, I cut off about 1cm on the intercooler outlet, and another 1cm off the throttle body inlet. Even with that it's still a tight fit and the top of the intercooler rubs against the firewall if you don't mount it securly.

Once I save up for a proper FMIC, I'll be ditching the 1.8 TB since the 2.2TB is ALOT bigger. Won't have clearance issues with an FMIC :)

ah i see. yeah i had my 1.8 TB on there too when i was runnin it on the 1.8 ECU.

interesting to see that it allows the BOV to clear though. i may try putting the 1.8 TB back on to make the WRX IC fit, and because my 2.2 TB is leaking out of the O-Ring of the butterfly under boost :(

im sure i can figure it out, but how did you attach to the Y-pipe to the turbo outlet?

I got the Y-pipe to fit with a ghetto bendable universal radiator hose since the outlet on the turbo is pointing in an odd direction in comparison to the end of the Y-pipe. I got so frustrated with the end coming off, that I just made a blockoff plate on one of the ends of the Y on the intercooler, and just ran the other end on the driver side directly to the turbo since it conveniently points in that direction. Haven't had a problem since, but it's just all so ghetto for me that I hope to get a fmic asap. I'm sure you'll feel the same way when you hear your tmic rubbing on the firewall :P Good luck with yours, post up how it turns out.
