1500 + lb trailer for something capable of carrying a legacy safely.
maybe for short trips the taco is ok for towing 4000+, definitely wouldnt try it in the mountains(probably have brake issues) and especially not with an AT taco(burn it up fast).
ive actually ridden in(on?) a late 90's taco pulling probably 3500lbs worth of snowmobile trailer, DH bikes and riders, it was hurting bad. it might have had a 3rz though I dont remember.
sure it will tow it but its going to be SLOW, freakin hard on the truck and sketchy as hell.

a Tocoma would be nice
theres 2.7L I4 with 160hp and 180ftlb
the 4.0L V6 has 236hp and 266ftlb
the payload for the manual 4x4 is 1600lb its 1350lb for 4x2
the towing capacity is 3500lb for both 4x2 and 4x4
my uncle has one (4x4 V6), he hauls alot of scrap metal, never complained, said its the best truck he ever owned
mpg is 23/28 for the 2.7L 5sp manual (both 4x2 and 4x4)
its not listed for the V6 model but im geussing 17/22mpg since thats what it is for the V6 Tundra
if you want a truck id recomend the Tundra 4L V6 4x2 $16k
payload is 1500lb, towing is 5000lb and 4800lb for the Access Cab
the Titan has some god awfull gas mileage, 14 city, 18 highway for that huge 5.6L V8

My buddy just got an 06 GTO. Good lookin car. But 10k more than you want to spend. After his downpayment, it was around 20k. Pretty nice car, and he gets good mileage. Plus, RWD and torque to the moon.
If I had 20g's to spend on a car.... I'd buy a Solstice. If commuting is my biggest concern, and I need the space, I wouldn't hesitate to get another Forester or Legacy Outback.
Truthfully, unless you are willing to spend 30k, there isn't anything for you. Sucks, I know.
I'm pleasently surprised by the GTO though. Nicer than I remember the 04's being. The transmission makes clicking noises though, which I find odd. Pretty quick though, and apparently the clicking is normal says GM and various enthusiasts.

Coming from a guy who works at a dealership that also does Mazda, I STRONGLY STRONGLY STRONGLY suggest you do not buy an RX8.
If you want a performance Mazda, go with one of the new Mazdadspeeds.
I sat in a Solstice GXP not too long ago. Yeah, the interior still felt like shit, but I think I could forgive that for the boost.
The Nissan big trucks, last I checked, had the worst reliability record of any truck for sale in the US, including the Titan, Armada, and QX56.
