That weekend works for me too. If we're still looking for a site, Beverly Beach state park isn't bad from what I remember. It's on the coast near Newport.

How about this:
http://www.parks.wa.gov/parkpage.asp?se ... k&pageno=1
I know it is a little north, but it has river frontage, a group site, and other camp sites that are non-reservation.

Okay..... so, has anyone decided on anything yet?
I'll put my vote in for Beacon Rock State Park, but I need some details soon so I can request time off from work.

how many people are for sure going to go? the website said beacon rock state park is on a first come first serve basis so there is no reserving, it might be different for the group campsite though....
i know i'll be there but i wont be able to make it down untill around 9:00pm so somebody will have to go and get either the group campsite or a couple side by side tent sites. anybody willing?

For the group camp at Beacon, all of the rest of the weekends in August have already been booked. The problem with Plan B is that if you get there on Friday and its full, you are out of luck.
But, if you make a reservation somewhere, you are guaranteed a spot. I looked at Maryhill state park, which is farther east up the Columbia River, and there are some adjacent campsites available for the weekend of Friday Aug. 17-Sun. the 19th. Here is a link. Look at sites 67 and 68, for instance. Full sun it looks like though. The shadier sites are booked(54-57). Just a thought.

Need to make reservations today or Monday.

That's what I meant. It'd be a bad way to end a 3.5 hour drive.

A December meet where there'd be snow would be cool. Maybe it could be a weekend during winter break time for those of us in school.
