I am interested in getting the Euro Spec setup on my car. I will also do a little research and see what I can find. I sort of have a connection in Germany who most likely can find the parts, or have the right connections who can find the parts, he just doesn't have that much spare time because he has a bunch of his own projects going on...

I've got family(soon to be

) in Germany as well. I'm not sure they'd be down to go scour junkyards for parts, but one of them will be my brother in law. I might be able to talk him into digging around for parts.

georryan - The only thing you can really do with an RHD lamp to avoid blinding everyone and still being able to see would be to block off the upward rising part of the beam with an opaque blocker on the lens. But then you still wouldn't have that rising portion which is one of the E-code lamp's good strengths...
123c - Realize that your 1993 Legacy already has an ECE-style beam pattern (they're harmonized DOT/ECE lamps). I don't know if Subaru really used vastly different optics in the US and in Europe, but it's quite possible that the only difference would be that the lenses would be glass rather than plastic.

Yeah I figured that much, but the glass lamps that Josh is looking at is LHD lights.

Yeah, I just thought I'd mention it since you mentioned a "lens cover" or whatever.
By the way, I do believe the state of Washington permits ECE headlamps, so they'd be legal there.

I already know that I have the ECE-style beam patern, and that is the good one

, I just want something even better if I can get it. There should be some slight differences if the lenses are glass instead of plastic, that would also mean that they have better quality reflectors. The only down side to having the glass is that it will crack easily.

It's possible that the reflectors would be better (metal rather than glass, for example), but not certain by any means; Subaru could have used the exact same reflectors as in your car.
If the reflectors are metal, though, then that would be great news for those of us who want to use overwattage bulbs. Metal reflectors and glass lenses are good at handling heat, while plastic ones are not. And the ECE beam pattern responds very well to overwattage bulbs, unlike the DOT patterns.

Let me check my broken ones at home - but I am sure they are metal.
Kinda neat - it is lots of parts.

Other thing you need to remember.....I have a 90 legacy, aka super crappy bulb/beam pattern.

Lens IS Plastic - just chromed plastic

Sigh... too bad... that probably means the 92-94 glass-lens lights will have the same reflectors as the plastic-lens ones.

Installed..
Excuse the poor paint - that will be remedied next month if my contract gets renewed

And I can clearly see where the cutoff has to be covered.

So what all did you go through to get those?

About 2 years of scanning through Yahoo Japan auctions and babelfish.
For what I eventually paid after several broken ones, I could have replaced them all with new USDM twice
But I do get the "different" bonus

Those headlights have two bulbs in them? Do the corner lenses also have two bulbs?? What is the functionality of the two headlight bulbs? You'll need to change the wiring won't you?
Sorry if this was already discussed, I confess I didnt check.

Headlights have two bulbs - main headlight - H4, and city light, small clear incandescent bulb - similar to what we have in the corner light
Corner light has two bulbs - 1156 in front and 194 in side - both are wired together to blink.
