OK, I wont say where when why or what, but I did get 120 on the old speedo today. This was 5k rpm in fifth. And it felt damn fast.

Now as a testament to speedo and wheel ratio leading to inaccuraccy, this would have been something like 132 on the speedo when running stock 14" tires. I am currently running 16" stock WRX rims and stock Potenza WRX tires.

This leads to.......a new thread.....

Oh and for the haters, it was about 4 am on a 4 lane freeway without any traffic.
Mad speed on I-270.

You did it heading towards Frederick? You can see MILES ahead if you are heading towards Frederick from my house. Good spot to run WOT.

Speedos are "generous" from the factory. Someone going that high in the speedo typically is just looking for a number. That way they can hit that number and still be doing 5-8mph under that, which is a lot less kinetic energy.

Look up high speed tests in car magazines, like the 200 mph+ ones. The factory speedo will usually say 212 or something really high and its actually clocked at 198. 212 sounds a lot more special than 198 :D

Actually it was on the stretch between Rockville and Germantown. We were coming back from a night in Goergetown. That's why I was a little scared of the popo.

You're right though, there is a very nice spot heading N. from your place. :)
