It is awesome. Chrysler was very thorough in making sure that engine would be able to handle boost, and handle it well. Kind of like what Subaru did when designing the EJ20T and EJ22T.
I can't find my SCC right now, but when I do I'll post some of the highlights.
Are you talking about October's or November's issue? I have November's right here in front of me and can't find the article.

October's, sorry... Didn't realize November's was out already.

It's all good. . .just got it in the mail on Saturday. Thought you did too and already read the whole thing. . . I was like

no way!
I'll pick it up when I get home and read the article. Think I missed that one.
Seriously. . .I'm not trying to dog the Neon platform. . . IMO it just isn't what some people make it out to be. For just a little more $$ there are much better alternatives.
But I guess if you want to rank it among the strictly "best bang for the buck" crowd. . . I'm sure it's right up there.

Exactly. It's hard to get more bang for that buck anywhere.
I wonder how that insanely complex ECU that's smarter than all of us combined would respond to something like a manual boost controller...

driven a neon. Hated it. My good friend just got a 2004 something or rather. to be honest, I'd rather drive our toyota truck(2wd) with no speedo, or my mothers nonturbo, automatic beetle.

remember how there used to be thousands of 1st gen neons crawling all over the place? Where did they go????
That is enough for me. Ya share parts with Mitsubishi...
Oooh and you've seen that paint, the whole car is just THAT good.

Very true... There's a sick 71 Camaro with a cage and slicks and skinnys that I see whenever I'm up there and it just makes my night every time I see it...

I also read tghe SCC article and was amazed at that engine. Too bad they don't have a quality car to put it in. They feel so cheap and I've beaten several old and new ones with my fwd Legacy. Like to see a regular Neon at 226K or rather, hear it rattling down the road. I can still count the rattles in my car on one hand with change left over.

I don't remember if it was SCC or SPRTNRTV but the SRT-4 also won the under $30,000 car of the year last year, beating the WRX and EVOVIII. I must say it won because of the low cost and the engine though, not handling. I'm not a huge fan of the srt-4 (i'd rather have a sti, wrx or evo)
but 300 hp for $20,000 is pretty good

I'm guessing you don't challenge him?

My bad...I don't know where I got that #. Maybe that's after the factory performance upgrade? Anyways, like I said I'm not really a fan but the magazine critics seem to think it's a pretty good ride.

To a foot race maybe...LOL
As for Chrysler turbos, I don't think they have such a bad track record, those late 80s turbo Mopars have pretty good potential with a little work, and the 2.2/2.5s are tough little engines if done right....

2 kills I had recently:-
I beat the silvia by 1 1/2 car lengths off the lights (rolling start) up to 100kph, it was a 60 zone so i kept the speed down.
another kill,
this one was a bit closer, he was about 1 car length behind, I got a good launch and he couldn't keep up, it was pretty quick though.

How come you get to beat so much better cars than we do??

That green silvia is owned by a performance shop being RWD and having 260whp I thought it would've spanked me, I had a full tank of fuel and didn't get to launch it, guess I use a different dyno hey?

what about the weight difference, gearing, drag coef, etc, theres more than just hp to factor in, plus you're on the street so thats no real way to judge something that close

thats what I mean, the silvia is lighter, has more power, and is probably more aerodynamic than me, and I still beat it. maybe he just can't drive.

Really? I've seen more than a few dyno's that prove the stock 2004 SRT-4 puts 250hp and 240 (or was it 260) lb-ft to the wheels.
Could have just been a bunch of factory freaks, I guess.

Hey, notice that that quote came from Sep. 2003...lol They most likely had that mopar stage 1 kit you can buy from the dealer, supposedly ups em to 260 chp.
