Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
I think 1 and 2 is 50/50 split.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
Yes keeping it in 1 & 2 gives a more "agressive" AWD map which is closer to 50/50 split than the normal 90/10 in D.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
As for the wastegate solenoid, it should be 20 ohms, and yes it controls boost.
If you are going to a MBC, just leave the electrical connector plugged in and the ECU will be fine.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
good read,
Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
No, if you are using the MBC, you just hook the MBC up. Run the line from the turbo compressor housing to the MBC inlet, and the outlet from the MBC goes directly to the turbo wastegate solenoid.
The old factory boost control solenoid does not need to have any vacuum/boost lines plugged into it.....just the electrical connector plugged in.
You can put rubber caps over the stock boost control solenoid nipples if you want to keep dirt and debris out of it; in case you want to use it again in the future or put it back to stock.

good to know. I'll probably be doing that fairly soon. Still trying to work out the tmic situation. Once I up the bost to 14/15 I imagine the 4eat is going to start having trouble keeping up.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
You can also just remove it altogether and get a resister unit from an automatic non-turbo legacy. It's located in the same place and plugs right in and prevents CEL. It's smaller and can be hidden easier.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
couldn't I just get a 20 ohm resistor and wire it into the BCS pigtail and chuck the BCS in the trash? That way I can mount the grimspeed BCS in the factory spot.

Unless it's broken don't throw it away. Might want to go back to stock some day or sell it.

True enough, although I am getting a code for that so it is most likely bunked.
Today for my morning classes there were a few subies parked next to each other

An then when I came back for my night classes

I love my school lol.
Today I got my STi grille badge in the mail, so I took the opportunity to put it on.

Also forgot to upload the pic of the boost gauge, here she be.

20 inHg @ idle and I am guessing around 7 PSi @ WOT, that sound about right to you?

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
Alright good, that also means it isn't in limp mode or anything like that. A few things that are on my list that kind of all coincide with one another:
-Get rid of code 44 (wastegate)
-Get rid of code 51 (Neutral switch)
-Get a good MBC
-TMIC need some couplings and maybe some more pipe
-Suspension direly needs attention
*Struts/Coilovers: would like an inexpensive set, of coils OR just a spare set of whatever struts until I fix my
V7s.
*Steering rack bushings: got em, just waiting on everything else
*F/R Swaybar bushings: Gonna get some powerflex ones
*V4 STi trailing/lat links: Collecting dust
* T Brace bushings: taking up trunk realestate
-Get rid of TCU code for Duty C (probably going to be 5spd before this happens)
- 5 speed transmission swap (correct me if I m missing anything from the list)
*Transmission
*Rear differential (if not 3.91)
*F/R axles
*Pedal assembly (WRX or STi)
*Clutch master/slave cylinders
*flywheel/clutch&pressure plate
*MT driveshaft
*Differential bushings (already have a proflex set)
*Clutch immobilizer switch
*Shifter linkage and shifter (if not included with trans)
*shifter bezel trim
*shift knob
These are the things I plan on doing in that order. Having said that...any suggstions on a GOOD set of cheap coilovers, or if you are selling a set let me know.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
Just ordered a minty fresh looking STi gas tank with pump and sending unit, looks like a bolt on affair. Still looking for the right suspension.I did find a set of tein type flex coilovers that look really nice, I couldn't find a modified forester or RS/legacy suspension to use for now so I am either going to get coilovers or have to take the legacy off the road for a while while I rebuilt those V7s. Gotta make a decision soon!!

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
Are you just going to re-grease them? if so, it's a task that can be done in less than a day. Pretty simple too, personally I think it's more of a hassle taking the back seat out.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
Yeah that back seat is a pain for sure, yeah i am going to re-grease and drill/install a zerk fitting so these struts will last a long time.
I was going to grab some cheap coilovers or a temp set of struts so I have no down time, but instead I am getting the RS registered and I am waiting on a new door, I am going to do the gas tank, rear xmember and all the trimmings while I have it up there. Snagged a nice STi gas tank with pump and sending unit...thing looks brandy fucking new
should be fine, and plus one more STi part to go on the legacy. I figure when I am done it will be a real "STi legacy" I never saw anyone really STi-out a first gen although I am sure i'm not the first.

wait wait, you absolutely "like"them? I went into that sentence expecting some emotion after that "absolutely". lol, but yeah I really cant wait to see how this car really handles, I have yet to really pus it in a corner or at all for that matter...with the suspension in it's current state I have yet to break double digit speeds, just don't want to blow a strut and end up a highway stain...soon though soon, I have brand new tie rods ends waiting for the rest of the suspension to be ship shape, tires, alignment, then go fast...in that order.

Re: Xise's 1993 Legacy Turbo
On a side note I got the "new" door installed on the RS, still need to adjust the window itself, if up all the way, when you go to close the door it goes under the weather striping and can't close...like it needs to be tilted. I am guessing the arm inside is a little adjustable for that reason...

The new specimen

The new connector from the silver door had these slats that had to come off to fit into the door switch PITA #1

Then after I got everything almost done I notice the window will not move
so I take everything apart and find out the gear band was bent and not hitting the sprocket on the window motor...so I pull the one out of the red door, PITA #2

Ok so now I think the BCS has completely failed, I hit 15 PSi on the way home from school today. I was n't even paying attention at first, the car seemed to just haul ass for no reason, I wasn't even really pressing the pedal much lol. Then I look down and see 15 PSi LOL.....so I turned the radio down and heard anything after 10 PSi makes a really wierd whistling noise. Kind of like when you blow into a piece of wide grass and it makes a "whistle"....guess it is time to rig something up. I am going to talk to Justin at grimmspeed to see if I can use their electronic BCS.
