Weird... I've never had that much trouble removing a PCV valve. Just put the 19mm closed-end wrench over it and hammer a little bit.
BAC5.2, if you're planning on Seafoaming the intake you might want to wait until then to replace the PCV valve... We could remove your old valve (in theory), screw in this adapter, feed in Sea Foam, then put the new valve in.
Have you tried a big long pipe?

I have yet to try the big ass breaker bar. I didn't have one that would fit over the wrench, and my neighbor was in class for quite some time.
We could probably do the foaming at his house or just borrow the breaker bar and do it in my garage.
The question stands though, should I foam now, or wait until I can drive the car on the street to foam it? I suppose we could do the ingestion part of the foaming and I could wait to do the gas tank portion until the car is registered and ready to go. I could do the oil part on thursday when I'd have time to change the oil too.
As long as you can drive it around the block a few times I think the intake manifold part should be fine. You pour it in at a high idle, then shut the engine off to let it soak for 5 minutes. Then you start the engine up to let it smoke all the stuff out, then go for a short ride to make sure everything's good.
The fuel tank part you should be able to do any time, but it's probably best to do it with a fresh tank of fuel that you're going to burn fairly promptly.
I would do the oil part shortly before the change, and go fairly easy on the car while the stuff's in the crankcase.

Have you tried vise grips and a hammer? Clamp it on tight. Once you get it started it should come out easy. Worked for me the other day (actually couldn't find a hammer and used an old crank pulley).
Does the turbo have a ~90 deg hose that goes from the PCV down to the pass valve cover? The N/A does and I just discaonnected it at the valve cover and rotated it upwards on the PCV then stuck a small funnel in the end. Make sure you clean the pipe out first as the Sea Foam will clog thew PCV with it other wise.

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

That's how I put in the Sea Foam. Through the rubber hose attached to the pcv valve.
Maybe, if you want to come over to my place to do it, and possibly lend a hand to help a little with my brother's car if we need it. (The primary reason I'm coming home is to get his car running.)
Sunday afternoon might be good. I still have your cell phone number so I'll call you when I'm in town.

The Supra? Still having problems? I know you were able to start it the last time you were down here but it wasn't idling right. Have any leads as to what it might be?
Well... It's idling and he's actually driven it around a little. We need to tie up all the loose ends (that's more literal than it sounds since he has a lot of loose wiring :)) and start tuning. I think when you last saw it it was running with the stock ECU. Now it's MegaSquirted.
He does have a brake fluid leak that we're going to repair by removing the stock front calipers and installing a pair of Wilwoods :D. He also has new rear shocks and aftermarket rear springs (Eibach, I think) but stock front springs with senior citizen struts. That amounts to dangerous oversteer so we have to replace the front struts and springs. And his tires are ridiculously dead (one has a circular crack all along the sidewall!) so I think he's getting a set of aftermarket rims and tires.
Can you think of a long steep hill that would be pretty empty late at night that we might be able to use to put the engine under load when tuning?
I'll call you on Saturday to pick a time to meet up on Sunday.

Believe me, I'd much rather be going back to school on Sunday than having to deal with work on Monday
I'll see what I can do about gettin that fitting this weekend.
Wilwoods? Nice!
New wheels? Nice!
Excessive oversteer . . . not so nice.
Wiring nightmares . . . I'm getting flashbacks.
Long, steep hill for tuning? Hmmm, I'll have to get back to you on that.
Sounds like the help you would need is well within my realm of experience (save for tuning).
BAC5.2 - I don't know if I want to go through finding all the pieces and everything for the coffee mug (especially the mug itself)... but if you happen to find enough spare pieces for me to make one I'll trade you some Sea Foam for them. In any case, I'd be glad to help you guys make them.
boostjunkie - I have a brass 1/8" NPT tee and two 5/16" hose barbs with 1/8" NPT threads on them that I was planning on using when I install a water temperature gauge... I'm not doing that any time soon though so if you like we can use them on your car (assuming your temperature probe is 1/8"). They only cost like 5 bucks. I've also got a couple of extra oil gallery adapters.

Hm, I didn't realize Target had mugs of the right geometry; maybe I will stop by Target with my caliper. I'll probably be at Home Depot and other hardware stores before Wednesday anyway, so I can pick up fittings then.
