Probably what would work best is a plastic welder or 3m plasti-mix. Two part liquid plastic mix for repairing interior plastics. Sandable and paintable.

Kimo, have you used it on anything that was outside the car exposed to elements?

originalcyn, Just got a chance to use some of this stuff on a section of my bumper, it's bumper and flexibal panel repair. it's a 50/50 mix, sandable/paintable, and the best part about it is it is black.

I think it might be worth checking out, and it was only 5.99 or so at autozone.

I have bot used it outside but it should hold up. I used it to build custom speaker pods.

CJ,

Thanks! I'll see if I can find any of that.

Kimo,

I'm having trouble tracking down the one you used. By chance does it have a number on it that I can search for?

Fiber glass backing is in. Might do another layer though, we'll see how it dries.

You')) want to fill it in as best ypu can and then cover that in body filler but not thick (don't want cracks) and sand it smooth. Make sure there's filler on the whole surface of the sides so you won't see the lines where the fiberglass meets the plastic. You want a thing layer over it all.

More chop in the holes then maybe a layer of woven over them. That should smooth out the lines of the holes.

CJ, that bumper repair kit seems like where it's at. I'm hoping that it's pretty durable too. Here's the progress so far:

First Coat:

Second Coat:

Third Coat:

Rough Sanding:

Finish Sanding:

But that's only on that side, i'll have to repeat the process on the other side.

I'm trying to carry some of the red highlights theme through the grille. Who thinks this looks tacky?

I could also do it in front of the mesh too i guess.

Don't do it in front of the mesh. I suppose it looks decent the way it is though. Hard to say with such a close up shot.

Sorry Kimo, couldn't resist.

I'm actually pretty enamored with this shot because of the light. But it's not very helpful for what it was intended for.

I think it looks more subtle in front the mesh.

Yeah, I like it in front of the mesh as well.....it's more unique.
