Any thoughts on how this would turn out? I have secured a turbo and
am looking for a shop to do the work. Its the same turbo from a
ej22t going on a straight up ej22 engine with the 5 spd tranny. the
engine has somewhat high milage and am concerned the higher intake
pressure might mess some stuff up. Also its a front wheel drive (not
the all wheel drive). What do you guys think?

Turbo Install on a fwd???

It's a pretty unique project, if you do get it together.

The transmission is definitely the weak point, as you're going to
be using a high-compression engine with a turbo as well. The
Impreza guys always have problems with 2nd gear on their cars
if shifted fast, mostly because of the amount of torque.

Keep this in mind though, You will get wheelspin if you launch
hard in 1st and 2nd, and i think this is probably easier on the
transmission than shifting into 2nd with AWD. I would bet FWD
5MT transmissions aren't common, but are probably relatively
inexpensive.

Sounds interesting.

Other people here have turbocharged their N/A Legacies - check the
message archive for more information. From what I know, the results
have been very good (-:
