Rear Wings Do Absolutely Nothing But Create Drag

Read this and weep you idealistic boy racers. Are you ready????? I know for an absolute fact that no rear wing ever sold on any Subaru in North America has ever provided so much as one gram of downforce. This includes the optional STi wing sold for the new WRX.

When I was at the Wild West rally, I was inspecting the wings on both of their rally cars. I found nothing on either car that could be construed as an upside-down wing shape, so I asked the Prodrive and SOA engineers about it. The told me that both wings were just tail decorations and when I asked if any Subaru wing ever provided downforce, they said that there was a double wing on the WRC cars a few years ago, but that was the only one ever.

So if someone asks you if your rear wing is functional, you can proudly and emphatically say Yes! It performs the valuable function of keeping rainwater from running down the holes that were drilled in the trunk lid to mount it.

For most driving situations it won't do much. But I don't want to
say it's useless.

I, for one must disagree..... I am sure the wing itself must weigh at least 10 lbs ............
