oil temp gauges

anyone do an install of oil temp gauge??..where is the best location
to tap into for the sensor? all of the past comments dealt with the
merits and so on...most subies have an at oil temp warning
light,where is this sensor located on the block. i looked for this in
the haynes book but as usual not enough detailed info...

oil temp gauges

That "AT oil temp" light is the temp light for the automatic transmission, not the engine oil.

One of the issues with oil pressure and temp gauges is that you have to tap into the oil flow somewhere.....which creates another possibility for leaks and such.....

oil temp gauges

There is a plug in the block that can be used to access the main oil gallery on number three cylinder. Subaru sell this plug which a probe can be screwed into
