After months of head scratching over random acceleration pulses, bad
fuel economy my car is running like a dream. I only had to replace
the following:

-o2 sensor
-MAF sensor
-Idle air controll valve
-Go Fast bits pully kit
-Custom top mount intercooler (thanks Bill Colvert)
-2 breather filters
-snorkus removal w/ K&N drop in
-3" exhaust with high flow cat (stock downpipe)
-boost guage
-Air/Fuel meter
-short throw shifter
-blitz FATT turbo timer

It took all this to make my car something to talk about a the local
subaru dealer After the tune-up they pitted me up against a WRX with
the MRT exhaust and BBS wheels. We took it too the Freeway slowed to
about 35 each time and drove about 2 1/2 miles to the next exit and I
just inched away at 9lbs. of boost. And not just once but FOUR times
out of FIVE ( I missed third gear). We even tried a stoplight but my
cars gurth showed via the clutch but it was so close that I had
nothing to be ashamed of. Needless to say I am very happy and I'm
getting ready to slowly turn up the boost. Alls I need is a fuel
system controler and a regulater. I'll keep you posted.

Well I'll break it down for you

-o2 sensor $102 for a new one and a used one for the air/fuel for $45
-MAF sensor $389 new from dealer
-IAC valve & gasket $303
-GFB pully kit w/belts $189
-3" exhaust non mandral w/ magnaflo race magnum muffler($85 3" straight
through) Catco 3" high flow cat
-breather filters $20 each
-air/fuel meter I think was $69 (norsdkog)
-short throw shifter off of Ebay for $50 for a 2.5 RS that was Modified to
fit
-Turbo timer again ebay $70
-As far as the intercooler goes I had gatherd together a air/water
intercooler setup (radiator, surflo pump, tank, intermediate tubing, and
hardware) but because of my resent move from Washington to Florida Resorces
to install tht setup disapeared. So Bill Colvert offerd me a straght trade
for his air/air setup. The cost breakdown for the water to air intercooleris
as follows:
-radiator plus shipping $175
-surflo waterpump $80 (ebay)
-Tank, tubing & hardware $250 shipped

Funny thing though I tested my MAF sensor and it meters out in working order
I think its just dirty.

By no means are these great prices but here in florida Subaru has no roots
the WRX is barely selling and fortunetlly to young people. Parts are hard to
come by. The local Auto Zone and Discount Auto Parts don't even carry parts
for subaru's. So I was left with few options.

What kind of muffler do you use? Do you think the WRX stock muffler
would fit?

The muffler that I use is a Magnaflow Race magnum series muffler. It comes
in a round or flat oval style. They sound great! You get a real nice engine
tone without the "I got a honda" sound. The other nice thing is sence I
still have my stock downpipe the sound is barable for my wife and son. But
it is alot louder than stock. For a good idea of what it sounds like just
listen to the new WRX comercials. As far as the stock WRX muffler I think
that you will have a hard time trying to bolt it up because I'm pritty sure
the rear section is shorter than the legacy, and most likely not as
rewarding as going for a three inch setup.
