Bill Robinson's Speeding Ticket

Mr Witherspoon: I did have my Valentine One laser/radar detector on board, but laser (when used properly) just doesn't give much warning. It sounded like a starling was being choked (laser) and I slammed on the brakes, but the speed of light is faster than my aging reflexes.

My exerience has been that a really good radar detector will give you adequate warning about 99% of the time, but a serious cop using instant-on radar and not shooting at every car that comes by can nail me if he really wants me. Laser is even worse.

I have about 30 years of experience with the best radar detectors that money can buy. I bought the first generation Fuzzbuster immediately upon seeing the ad. I have worked my up as technology changed and have always enjoyed the upper hand on our valiant men and women in blue. Bear-in-the-air is no threat if you have a Uniden Beartracker scanner built just for speeders. Mine got stolen last year. I should have had it Tuesday night, as I might have picked up some chatter from the state bulls. I suppose a CB might have helped, but I hate to hear all the nonsense yammering of all the booger-eatin morons who use CBs. I kinda prefer my CD/MP3 player over hillbilly chatter.

I see ads for jamming technology, but I don't trust it. I think I'll look into invisible infrared jamming for laser, but not try to jam radar.

That's why you try to run behind the pack, or stay behind cars. In PA, almost all the troopers have hand held units where they are a gun type instant on/off. Radar detector won't help in that case unless you have a spotter or he's shootin some people a ways ahead of you.

I've learned to try and keep spotters and drive smart.....do as much hiding as I can :)

I've got a passport 4600. It works very well if left on.....I can pickup radar quite far away. Laser....like you said....there's really not alot you can do....
