Increasing Wheel Stance?

Is there some way to increase the wheel stance of our cars, other than getting wider rims? I have Legacy GT rims on my turbo, but I don't like how, especially in the rear, the wheels are tucked inside the wheel well. Is there someway to make it look better?
Thanks,
Mark

You really can't have wheels that stick out of the fenders....because they will rub.

They make spacers that will push the wheel further out. But there are a lot of issues with these. Some of them: You just slightly changed the geometry of pretty much your entire suspension, you just added another component that could possibly fail with what holds the wheel to the car (imagine tire coming off on highway....) you want the least amount of things that could go wrong on this area of the car, you add the possiblility of scraping which was mentioned, the car is going to wear your tires and suspension faster by increasing the leverage that the weight of the tire has. You've also increased the unsprung weight.
Think of all the problems that cars have that do this to the extreme like low-riders. You'll be introducing them on a smaller scale. But if it's all for show, and you don't beat on those components then go for it. Having the wheels just a little farther out makes a lot of cars look better.

I don't want the wheels sticking out of the fenders. But around 1/4 inch behind the top of the rear fender. Nothing too extreme. Thanks for the info guys.

Instead of installing spacers you could just get aftermarket rims that have a lower offset. They should be easy to find, since Subarus usually use a very high offset while most other cars use much lower ones. If your fenders will take it, try some 5x100 Volkswagen wheels. They should be pretty easy to find. Keep in mind the warnings other people have made about messing with your suspension geometry though.

VW wheels are usually about 8mm lower
For the rear you could get some adjustable control arms to push the wheels out, it would increase camber as well.
