I was getting an o2 sensor error code, so I installed a brand new o2
sensor in the up pipe. I started it up and let it idle for 10 mins or
so, and all seemed fine. Turned it off and back on with no error
code. So i took it for a test drive and i found a dead spot at about
1/4 throttle, i.e. around the 0 mark on my vacuum/boost gauge (from
10in hg - 2 psi). AF gauge says i was running lean during this time.
It almost seems like its stalling, the RPMs to drop slowly and the
shifter shakes, but it doesn't die. Whats going on? any ideas?? I am
really stupefied by this.

Have you reset your ECU? The computer stores codes and sometimes affect
performance, drivability if there is one in the memory.

I have the instructions on my site how to reset the ECU. It's in the

Problem solved, i hope. I think my problem was that I didn't have one
of the wires securely connected (silly me trying to save money by
buying the universal kind). But thanks much for the response josh!

It's pretty easy, just need an open end wrench and unscrew the thing
from the collector in the front. If you have jacks it would make it
easier to get under the car, however you don't really need them. I
changed mine in like 10 min.

You guessed what I was thinking (I was wondering if I should approach
it from the bottom or top). I have some car ramps, so I guess I could
drive it up the ramp and replace it.

I have another question for you. I noticed there are two different
oxygen sensors for 1990's. Do you know how I can tell which one I
need to get?

>From the top end you'll need to disconnect the wire and such from the
clips. From the bottom end you'll need to take the sensor out.

The dealer should know.....but the cut off month is July 89. If your
car was made before July of 89 you'll use the cheaper sensor, if your
car was made in July or after, it'll use the more expensive one.

Have the dealer double check the dates, but I'm pretty sure they are
correct. The fact that there is two sensors is one of the reasons I
would recommend just getting one from the dealer, because most of the
aftermarket stuff isn't going to give you two options....
