Well I got my WRX rims and tires and put them on today, while doing that I noticed something I didn't notice last time I had the wheels off. I have KYB GR-2's on the car. I had no idea! The springs are stock I'm sure, but wow, whoever owned the car before me sure picked a good set of struts to put on it. I'd like the AGX's one day, but...yeah. I'm happy.

They are the silver bodied GR2 or just the plain old KYB? Are you using the stock WRX re-92 tires?

They are the silver KYB GR-2's, they say GR-2 on them. Yes I am using the stock re-92 tires.

You know the car is going to have less optimal gearing with those tires. They are too large in diameter and hurt accelleration.
Even knowing this I used mine until bald. The strange thing is right near the end the dry traction improves significantly!

ha, nice on the near bald tread having good traction.
Now your saying that it will hurt acceleration and gearing because the overall diameter of the wheel is larger than stock, right?
How bad of a hurt is it though? They aren't that much larger right?
although 215/50/16 I think is about as close to stock diameter overall that you can get. I think, I'm not looking at a calculator right now, so I may be wrong, but from what I remember, that was a pretty close size. You were off by 1% in your mph speeds.

205 50 16 is the closest size, and many good tires come in that size. The tires you are using are 20mm taller over all! I could easily tell that the car was not only taller but slower.

ah your right. The 225/40/17's are close than that even, but not by much.
what is the percentage that my speedometer will be off now? I used to know of some calculator that would do that for me but I lost the link.
