engine mounts....

what are you guys doing??? heres my experience. i put in STi mounts...
1: car up on jacks
2: remove lower part of exhaust manifold (heatsheilds and 6 bolts hold up the manifold)
3: remove 2 nuts (14mm i think) holding on the mounts to the x-member.
4: place jack with piece of wood under the oil pan and LIFT SLOWLY on motor...studs in the mounts will free themselves from the x-member.
5: undo the 2 bolts each that hold the mounts to the motor on either side
6: remove the old oil filled mounts and stare at em.
7: have a beer
8: assemble new sti mounts on a bench and figure out left and right
9: heres the trickey part, you will have to put the mounts on the x-member and lower the motor onto the mounts then line up the holes. so practice putting in the bolts as i x-threaded one and had to helicoil it.
with the new mounts in (1 hours- 2 hours tops) just reassemble the exhaust system and you are good to go.
with my STi mounts i noticed more torque transfer to the wheels, the motor runs smoother, takes less to start as the starter isnt fighting againts the torque backlash of soft mounts. and the motor dosent move under load. i only notice a sleight vibration when on rare occosion that it stumbles on some hot mornings under 700RPM at idle. other than that, its smooth and quiet.... CAN I GET A TESTIMONIAL??!!??!
OH for you CT area peeps, im gonna be a new subaru sales guy at schaller in new britian CT on rt 9!!!! stop by and say OLA!
