Water Pump Replacement?

Hi. A few months ago I posted a question about water leaking from the
back of my engine. I replaced the seal on the thermostat cover
(because it looked like it was leaking), and leak stopped. I just
noticed the leak starting again. This time I looked at it and
antifreeze was dripping from the rear of the oil pan. As I layed
there wondering how antifreeze could be leaking frm the rear of the
oil pan the fan turned on and I noticed that water from the water
pump was pushed by the fan down along the oil pan to the rear of it
where it dripped. At least now I know how it leaked from the oil pan.

My problem now is replacing the water pump (right now I'm assuming
that the fluid is coming from the weep hole - i could't exactly see
where it was coming out). I took a look in my handy Haynes Manual (I
know, I had a real shop manual on order), and it indicates that I
have to pull the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and camshaft
tensioner, and left rear timing belt cover. Do I really have to do
all of that?

Thanks for any help.

Yep. If your close to a timing belt change you may as well do it at the same time. Is the leak bad enough it needs filling every day.

Water Pump Replacement?

I have just finished doing the same on a 93' 2.2L non-turbo. Yes you
might as well replace the timing belt while your at it. You will
need to remove belt,Tension Adj.,tension pully,front covers but I
didn't need to remove the back cover or the camshaft pully. Don't
forget to count the belt teeth when you replace the timming belt. 44
teeth on the pasenger side and 40.5 on the drivers side. You should
not have a transmission access hole that is not covered.

Yup. You really have to do all of that. Replace the belt while you are at
it.
