Transmission Power Flush

Would a transmission flush (they will hook it up to some machine to do this) be beneficial for a high mileage sport sedan? This is at a Ford dealership down the street. I really hate the Subaru dealer near my home so I don’t want to go there.

What kind of transmission fluid do we use? The dealer uses Micron 3 I think. Will this matter? Also does anyone know what kind of differential fluid we use?

Is there a recommended transmission / differential fluid I should be using that I could buy locally?

the owner's manual calls for dextron III,

I don't think it would hurt to do the power flush if the tranny is working fine. I have heard of a tech saying if the tranny is not doin so good....the flushes can sometimes cause more problems......

Josh,
In regard to a power flush, there has been a myth
that flushing an auto trans. that is about to fail,
will then be caused to fail. That is not accurate
from information I've heard. If a transmission is
about to fail it will fail regardless of the changing
of the fluid. Just one man's opinion.
