Suspension and Idle Questions

This group is great, I've learned a sick amount about my BC-BF!
For rallycross purposes, I want to upgrade the suspension on my:
1990 Legacy L Wagon AWD
Will the KYB AGX's fit? The archives seem to indicate "no", but what
if I replace my strut tops?
What's a reasonably-priced spring upgrade that won't lower the car
too much? Do I need these special strut top mounts for these springs?
(I checked the archives but that just made me more confused...
suspension seems to depend on year, drivetrain, and wagon vs sedan)
If it makes things any more confusing, I'd like all these parts to be
able to fit my 2000 Impreza RS on that sad day when the Legacy gives
up the ghost on the rally course.
As a totally seperate question:
Once upon a time I adjusted my idle speed screw because it was
necessary to keep the car from stalling (long story). Now,
everything else is fine except I read in my Haynes and Chilton that
this is a NONO. Does this matter? How do I know how far to turn the
screw to put things right again? (the car idles up to 2000 after
startup but the computer slowly forces it back down to the proper 750
rpm so I can't tell how much to adjust it)
Thanks a lot!
