Are better motor mounts really that important?

I need two new motor mounts before I can put the motor back in. I was planning on buying the stock factory ones. What type of improvement is to be expected by getting some STI ones or something similar?
Thanks, Mike

If you do the STi engine mounts ALONG with the STi tranny mount (if you have a manual) this will tighten up your drivetrain significantly. Your car will snick into gears like a dream. But... I don't know how much difference the engine mounts themselves make cuz I did both at the same time. The only thing about the engine mounts is that they transmit a little more noise into the cabin and make some decelleration noise. By a little I mean you'll barely be able to hear it over a playing radio once they break in. But you will be able to feel the little extra vibrations and the slight lope in your boxer idle. But then again you get used to it after a month.... depends if your car is reeeallly quite now and how much extra NVH you can stand.

yeah....new motor mounts will help, even if you get the stock rubber mounts.
The legacy came with fluid filled ones, and wear out.

Just replaced my stock mounts with a set of mounts from an 02 rex. There is definitely less engine movement during acceleration.
