What is the light grey sensor/ valve directly below the TPS with ABC
marked on it? (one pipe runs from it to the intake trunking)What does
it do?

IAC Idle Air Controller.

It has a temp spring controlled by the coolant temp and also a mechanical
valve controlled by a servo. That is how the car can dynamically controll
idle.
