Well,
I'm getting ready for an oil change and I'd like some
recommendations on the weight of a full synthetic oil for the winter
here in Colorado. My '91 Legacy turbo with 181K has been running
Amsoil 20W-50. I was looking at a Castrol 5W-50 for winter. Is that
a good bet or is there a better alternative? Thanks for your guys
support in this,
Andrew Mouser

Mobil 5w-30. Why? NO VISCOSITY MODIFIERS ADDED like the others you
mention. Realize that these polymers are a consumable item in the oil,
so the more there are the more drastic the viscosity will drop over
time. On average oils with a larger difference (5w-50) have the most of
these modifiers, so they will "fail" sooner.

Whatever preferrence of oil brand and type, choose that with the
smallest difference.
