sometimes when coming to an idle, i notice a burning oil smell, it's
coming from the exhaust and is quite noticeable, however this only
happens occasional prob only 1 in 10 or more times that you come to
idle.
the car isn't using any noticeable oil, and doesn't produce smoke
when being driven down the road.

what could cause this occasional oil buring, do i have a sticking
waste gate ?????

thanks

My liberty/legacy has a leaking front crankshaft cover with sprays back
onto the exhaust and creates smoke. Apparently the power steering fluid
commonly can also do this? The CV boots can also spray grease onto the
ehxaust and burn off that way.

Adrian.

sorry, i should have been abit more clear, the smoke is coming from
the tailpipe at the rear of the wagon with the normal exhaust gases,
this is a turbo legacy wagon.
I don't have and fluid losses or leaks onto the exhaust either power
stearing fluid or oil, or trans fluid.

cheers
