more shaky steering stuff...

My Legacy ALWAYS howls a little on startup, kind of like when your fanbelt starts to slip. However the tension on the belts all seems fine. A mechanic friend suggested that throwing talc (aka baby powder) onto the pulleys helps to stop the slippage. Tried it - didn't work (maybe it's the wrong brand of baby powder
)
Also my steering has an unusual feel sometimes right after startup - when you pull the wheel for the first time to go left or right it feels 'chunky', as if the wheel is turning 5 degrees at a time then a slight pause then another 5 degrees etc. It doesn't ever happen apart from on startup.
Sorry if my descriptions are not that helpful, but it's pretty hard to describe these sort of things!
