what weight oil to run?

Ok...my car has a EJ20G swapped in. The person I bought the car from always ran amsoil series 2000 20w50 synthetic racing oil. They were in texas. I'm in Vermont, way up north, big change. I run the hell out of my car, it spends a lot of time over 4000rpm, and is often run over 100mph for extended periods of time, often getting there in 4th gear...(at the nurburgring in germany of course!) I was thinking because the car is run so hard, that this heavy oil might be a good idea, only in the summer of course when it is real hot and humid up here. The car currently doesn't really burn any oil at all, I worry that with a lighter weight oil, it might...I've also had an occasional intermittant sticking hydraulic valve lifter, probably caused by materials clogging the oil passages for the actuators, I was thinking the heavy oil might contribute, as the passages are quite small. I've also been told that modern japanese engines have such tight tolerances that lighter weight oils are better. So what do people think I should use? 20w50? 10w40? 10w30?
Thanks
Micum

15w-50 for hotter weather, higher mileage and harder driving. btw, i run 10w-30 year round. (northwest resident)

I've run 10w30 pretty much since I got it, run it year round, I live in tx, and have been known to drive fast ;)

Typically a lighter weight oil will allow better flow at lower temps, and will help increase mileage and itsy bit of hp.

I just got done running synthetic 20w-50 and it's a waste of time. It kills your gas mileage. The Subaru owner's manual says stay away from 5w-30 for extended high speed driving... so I definitely stayed away from that. Now I run 10w-30 with some 20w-50 I had left over in the car. I'll probably run 10w-40 the next time I change it, then 10w-30 in the winter.

5w-30 will save gas. I always run 10w-30.
