What a difference

I picked up some oem wrx 16" wheels and tires off a guy on nasioc this last weekend and I can't believe how much of a difference they made.
My car looks 100% better, handles better, and rides nicer. They are perfect except one wheel has a small scratch, the tires are almost brand new and I got them for $200

Couldn't pass it up. I did have to drive a couple hours to pick them up but it was a lot better then getting them shipped. I really can't believe how blah they look on the wrx and then how great they look on the BC-BF.
Now I can refinish my stock 15" wheels and mount my studded Gooodyear
ultra grips for winter. It will be nice to have seperate sets of wheels and tires for summer and winter that I can change myself.

Oh no you didn't! You did NOT talk about how good they look on your car without posting a picture!

the tires actually aren't that sticky. After driving around on my GS-D3's, the RE-92's are utter crap. Despite having a taller taller tire diameter, the RE-92's still locked up much easier.

Yeah, RE92s aren't so great... But I would say that they are better than average in the rain. I wouldn't mind the relatively worse dry grip so much except that they're not as communicative as I would like.

at first I wasn't too happy with the goodyears, but after driving on them, and going back to "normal" tires.......the goodyears are amazing, both in the dry and the wet.

I actually have a before and after pic but the place I was hosting my pics is down again.
To be honest about the handling I haven't pushed the car really hard yet but it seems like the wider tires and stance really makes a difference. The steering seems more responsive and tighter. I've heard a lot of people complain about the RE-92's and I Know there's much better tires out there. I was running German Fulda Carat Assuro's 195 60 R15's which are pretty damn good tires. These seem better but like I said I haven't pushed the car nearly as hard as I have with the Fulda's. The Fulda's have really good grip in hard cornering. I guess I'll find out soon!

you need to compare apples to apples, tires of the same size. A lower profile/wider crappier tire may handle better then a better tire that has a narrower foot print and more sidewall.

Ya I know, I'm just saying I like the feel of the wider, lower profile tires better. I know the RE92's aren't very good but I'll probably run them until they're smoked then get something better. I went and pushed it a little harder this afternoon and I have to say when pushed they squeal like
Ned Beatty. They didn't bust loose but came close at a little lower speed then I'm used to with the Fulda's. The car doesn't lean as much with the RE92's however.

Man, I just looked at some falken Aznes or whatever they are called. Those tires are NICE. I just wonder hwo they handle in the rain. I'm seriously thinking of getting them. They are cheep too, like 80 bucks a tire.

Legacy77 - Here here. I just autoX'd on my GS-D3's for the first time. They felt great. Very predictable - I could feel exactly how much to thrash it. And at 45psi, I never rolled onto the sidewalls at all.
Congrats, matt!

I've been playing with tire pressures....and my only complaint is that on the highway it feels like the car is flexing on the sidewalls.
I guess it could be a variety of things....bushings......I'm going to replace my steering rack bushings with the poly bushings from whiteline. Hopefully that will help.

i got rex rims for my legacy too. for the price how can you pass it up. i got 3 sets of re92s for almost nothing. i know re92's are not the best. thats why the rex owner are giving them away. i never had a problem with mine. here is a pic. they look like nothing on a rex but look fully sick on any other subaru.
