on my legacy turbo 4wd (uk so rh drive), i have a noise that sounds like brakes rubbing, but only when i turn a corner, not in a straight line.
the noise speeds up with wheel rotation speed, but it cant be the brakes i guess as when applying brakes the noise is still the same.
at very low speed the noise sounds like a creaking/susspension but due to the fact its speed related i guess it cant be .
has to be a rotating part. i thought it was cv boot dry and rubbing but its not that.
only thing left i can think of is outer cv joint. is this a symptom (creaking like an old tree) as i thought it would crack or knock.
any ideas recieved with thanks.

my guess would be the wheel bearings. i had the same "creaking" noise... i could even get it to do it while going straight if i lightly held the brake pedal in the right spot. Mine was speed related and all that too.

good luck

it probably still is your wheel bearings. since they are under more load when you are turning they make noise. and its a "creaking" noise that is consistent with speed which is what i had with my bearings

I second that guess! The early indication that a wheel bearing is on the way out is when you start to get the 'moaning' sound whilst putting pressure on that side of the car when turning. So if the sound comes when you're turning right, it's a left side bearing that's going. (someone please correct me if I have this the wrong way round!)

I remember this from an old 205 Peugeot that was making a similar strange noise some years ago.
