I have a friend that told me some of the turbo Legacys have a precat in the up-pipe. Is this ture? I looked at mine and it looks like a round up pipe. Dosent look like a cat would fit in the up-pipe area. Not to mention that it would kill the turbin fins if a piece of the cat came loose.

Nope, we didnt get cats in the upipes, thats why their so sought after by people turboing their Subaru's. The WRX has an up-pipe cat though.
