What kind of scan tool do I need for my ODBI Legacy?

I need to pull some codes and I'm having a little trouble with the ecu. Maybe a picture of the plug I need to disconnect to get the MIL to flash.

The precise locations of the connectors varied from year to year and between US-made and Japan-made cars, so pictures may or may not be useful.
You've read up on how to read the codes, right?
Basically, to read the codes, you need to find the pair of black 1-pin connectors. They will be near each other but not connected to each other. There's only one mating pair of black 1-pin connectors down there. You connect them to read the codes, not disconnect them.
