will this muffler

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 2445416512

fit on our legacies?

I'm still in search of a decent lower priced exhaust.

I found out that our province will not give an MVI unless you have at least one cat. so my catless idea is shot...

It's a universal muffler, you should be able to get it to fit fine.

but after you've spent 19+26 for shipping, is it really worth it for a twenty dollar muffler?

Every ricebox around here has that muffler and I can't stop associating it with riced out Cavaliers and whatnot...

Does it actually flow at all decently?

homeslice, your rear fog light's on the wrong side of the car!

Thanks for the info guys, I mostly use ebay for photo reference if nothing else, I don't intend on buying much from the site.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around what kind of mufflers fit on our cars. I do like the dual tip exhaust, and yes all the ricers around here have them too, but, when I consider it. I paid 3500$ for this car, do I want to really drop 1000$ onto an exhaust? Exactly.

So homeslice, that pic doesn't show it well, how does it work/sound?
what else do you have for your setup? I saw a gutted oem WRX down pipe on ebay that I thought would be a great replacement. But it looked way shorter than all the other Aftermarket downpipes I've looked for.

Correct me if I'm wrong but off the turbo on a WRX isn't there 4 pipes technically?

Downpipe
Small catted extension
Mid pipe
and Axleback with muffler.

Forgive me for being so information lacking, this is my first Modifyable car and not having many mechanic friends means going at it alone for the most part.

that was not the point that its rice! he was just asking if it fits! i know peeps will call it rice, but if u didnt read my posts before about it i got it CHEAP--anyways i think it fits the car nice--- many german aftermarket cat backs look like that! im sorry for the ricers to ruin it but we had dtms to start with! vrg3 yes i know the fog light is on the wrong side.......u jus notice that? if i put it on the other side wouldint look right.... of course it flows better. you can see right thru it. i noticed a mpg increase. and quick drive it will make your car sound sweet as hell. lets the boxer tone out!

Yeah, homeslice, the question was whether or not it fit. And thanks for showing that it does.

I don't think it looks that bad... I wouldn't let other peoples' use of it scare me off from it if i were
considering it.

Having the fog light on the wrong side cuz you think it doesn't look right on the other side doesn't really make any sense... the purpose of the light is to show where the driver's side of the car is. In fact, it'd be dangerous to ever use that light, since it would lead people to believe your car is further to the right than it is. So if someone decides to just follow you they'll end up off the road, or if they decide to try going around you they'll run into the left half of your car.

i know the purpose but how many peeps in the usa know the real meaning for it? i got it on there just so peeps can see me in the fog. also gives it the edm look im going for. i think most peeps would know im driving in a lhd car. they should still be able to see my tails if they are close enuff.

I think it looks fine. Legacys originally had the twin exhaust tips anyway. Unlike Hondas that you could clog by sticking a pencil up there.

Yeah, I really like the idea of keeping twin tips when upgrading the muffler.

Homeslice, realize that rear fog lights are meant for use when taillights are invisible due to the fog. That light doesn't give your car an EDM look, since EDM cars have the rear fog light on the left side of the car. The issue isn't about people knowing it's LHD; they'll assume it's LHD. But if they see a rear fog light and it's way to the right, it indicates to them that your car is way to the right. It's a misleading signal, which can be dangerous.

Homeslice, you justify the muffler as flowing well because you can see right through it? Realize that a straight section of pipe would flow BETTER and probably produce a better sound as well. Ive seen quite a few WRX with a section of pipe that has exhaust hangers welded on. It would also be cheaper.

I still say to stay away from that muffler. A nice muffler can be purchased for only a few more dollars.

When I was looking for the muffler for my engine back custom exhaust one of the units I considered was a Dynomax muffler 3" straight through 17673 for 55$ (plus shipping)

legacy92ej22t: I wouldnt want a used muff though. My favorite part is getting a new muff and seeing if its a tight fit or not

Alright, so I have found my custom exhaust shop...

He's going to do a custom 2.5" catback with a "rhino" ?!? 2.5" inlet to 2 2 1/4" outlets and then custom bend 2 pipes for the twin tips, topped off with some chrome tips.

Price, 230$ CDN, Labor included.

I may still get him to do the DTM Muffler, Haven't decided that, but I've got other worries right now, Like the hole in my roof.....

I believe you call them boy racers over there - you know, the guys who read MaxPower. Over here it's Fast & the Furious idiots who know nothing about cars and slap on enough stickers, lights, and wings to double the weight of an already accelerationally challenged vehicle.

AHA, thought you were all being racially prejudicial to orientals there :P (not that I am one like) but I am aware of the boy racer brigade, why else would I buy such a dull to look at car but to waste em without them knowing what hit em  .

DOA: It doesnt have to do with the persons nationality. It used to be that only Civics had "RICE" stemming from the term "rice burners" for japanese cars. Now RICE can be on anything, including a chevy cavalier or saturn!
