Hello again - just a couple more questions for you all. :D
Does anyone know what the different parts of the applied model mean? ie, the A, 59, & D?

BD/BG LEGACY

93/10 96/05
RS BD5A48D - BD5A48P
GT BD5A49P
GT BG5A59D - BG5A59P
GT-V Limited BG5A59D - BG5A59P
GT B-spec BG5A59D - BG5A59P
GT B-spec Ⅱ BG5A59D - BG5A59P
GT E-spec BG5A59P

Also, does this option code & transmission number mean anything to any one?
Option code - 55C
Transmission type - TY752VBBAA

Cheers guys. :?: :?:

1. Series code: B, Legacy
2. Body type: G, wagon
3. Engine Type: 5, EJ20H
4. Year Code: A, 96
5. Number of Doors: 5, wagon
6. Model Type: 9, Legacy
7. Tranny Type: D, 5 spd manual

As for the option code, since we have determined that this is a GT-V, 55C designates the GT-V option package with special seats, steering wheel and badging.

The tranny is a 5 spd manual but I am having a little trouble getting the gear ratios. My best guess is below, with open front and rear LSD.
1st:3.454 2nd:2.062 3rd:1.448 4th:1.088 5th:0.825 FD:4.111
I will try and confirm the tranny info since that is the one thing I am not sure of...

Wow again Matt.
For someone who professes to know little about Legacies - you know truck loads.
Thanks for that - I wanted to be sure that the car has not been modified - hence the gear box questions, and I suspected the applied model would have that in there somewhere.

Do you know of any books I can order that identify parts for these TT's and give indications on how to repaire & maintain the car?
That would be soooo useful to me.
I have found a load of info on ECU codes, etc - it may be old hat to you guys, but here it is anyway.

Thanks again.

A-ha,
I know little that is Legacy specific, but I know very much about Subarus :D And of course since the Impreza was birthed out of the Legacy I am finding my Impreza knowledge can go backwards into early Legacy...

I don't know what local resource you should hit in the U.K. to get one but the best repair manuals are always the factory service manuals. If you aren't already aware of them try http://www.sidc.co.uk/

SIDC is one of the best informed groups of Subaru users that I know of on your side of the pond. Again, they aren't Legacy, but finding a service manual and some other things you might require would be a cup of tea for them.
cheers and happy motoring.

Thanks Legacy777.

If nothing else goes wrong I will get the car this Friday now.
I am still really nervous about the potential maintenance costs, etc.
