Torque-Bind Question

Okay, First off... Hello. :) I'm Very Glad to have found this site.

I Just bought a 92 Legacy sport. I'm officially in love with it.

After reading in the "Library" section about Torque-bind I have decided That I am suffering from that problem.

I see that in the Torque- Bind definition, he says "Recently i've found out that the early model Legacies don't actually have the wear problems listed below, but frequently have a malfunctioning solenoid in the same area that causes pressure problems and very similar symptoms. Replacing this should fix the problems in pre-95 models." .

Does anyone know anything about this Solenoid such as where it is, what it is called, or about how much they cost to replace?

I'm assuming since mine is a pre '95 model that it is the solenoid problem and not the wear problem.

Thanks in advance for any info..............

I'm assuming you mean the duty c solenoid.

You can see some more info on the auto's AWD system here

First thing I'd suggest is check your tire pressures, make sure your tire wear is even, and change your tranny fluid.

Thanks

Okay, I want to thank Everyone who has contributed to this Forum:

!!! THANK YOU !!!!

I have spent the last week reading all kinds of old threads on various subjects, and now I feel much more educated about my car. I have managed to improve a few things off the bat.

I Checked tire wear and pressure. They were fine. I did the "do a bunch of circles this way , then do a bunch of circles that way" trick, and that actually did help to some degree. (And it was fun :D )

When I changed the transmission fluid and differential oil, my problem all but vanished! (WOO-HOO!)
It is still there faintly if I really try to make it happen, but it's WAY better. I assume within a year or two I'll have to get it serviced, but I was happy with the quote I got to fix it from the dealer I went to. ($440 to $675)

I cant believe how much I've fallen in love with this little car! I Just had a 2000 Accord That got hit by an F250 Pickup, So I figured buying a 92 legacy with 102k on it would be a downgrade, but this car is way more fun than my Honda was! AWD is COOL! and Turbo is fun too! even if it is a little "kiddie turbo". I figured if that Accord I had was my Legacy, I could have avoided my accident all together just by getting the hell out of the way quicker.

Sorry If I'm rambling.......... Thanks again to all.
