I recently bought a 1992 legacy n/a. It was starting up fine when I test tested throughout a week or so. Now that it is at my house(Michigan). it wont start. Tried jumping it and it wont start. The lady said it has troubles starting in the cold. Please help.
Thanks.

Explain exactly what the car does when you turn the key.
Do the lights dim?
Do you hear a click in the dash?
Do you hear a click in the engine bay?
Does the motor ever turn?
How old is the battery?

It is daytime so I dont know if the lights are dimming. It sounds like the alternator is clicking, but it should of still started when I tried to jump it. It has the same stronger sounds like it wants to start, but wont ignite. I push it into the sun, out of the shade to see if that might help. Im thinking it might be the coils. (Spark or fuel is my conclusion, but Im usually not right).
No sounds are coming from the dash.
Thanks.

An engine requires more fuel to start when cold and these ignition systems are pretty damn reliable, so my guess is it may be a fueling issue. Is it only when cold?

My first guess would be contacts in the relay. Starters do go bad, I had a spair one just for this reason (and ended up giving it to a friend when his starter died).

Well it started. It sat in the sun(only 29 degrees here) for awhile, also jumped it. It was hesitate then 3 pumps of the gas and it fired up. Really white cloudy, extremely gas smell exhaust for a bit. Let me know what everyone thinks. I appreciate all of the help.
