Okay, my little brother just bought an '87 Subaru GL-10 Wagon. It's 2wd and has a kick-ass digital gauge cluster. Anyone have any tips for my brother or a stereo or wheels for him to buy? (yes, josh, this is the brother that beer-bonged the guiness)

Your pretty limited. the stereo section is a funky shape and is very shallow. The bolt pattern and offset on the wheels is also an issue, either swap wheels from other older subarus or the xt6 2wd conversion could be possible.
One question though, why a 2wd gl-10?

Cuz it runs like a champ and the interior is mint. Oh, and it was $500.

500 is cool, its still only a 1.8 though. I have an AWD legacy wagon that has so far costed 375$ ... I have a sedan that cost 1350 so far...

EA82T, cool. Digidash, sweet. $500, kick-ass. 2WD, bummer
Nonetheless, tell his to get a set of these wheels:
www.scorpionsubaru.com is a vendor in Australia that makes those wheels, they are pretty much the ONLY aftermarket wheels you can get for 4-lug Scoobs.
And tell him to keep an eye on those headgaskets!

"EA82T, cool."
Except when the headgasket leaks
"Digidash, sweet."
Except when the gauges dont always work
The 500 dollar part is the only good part I can see.
Now if you get a 150$ 4wd donor car

They make a dash kit for gl's so fitting it isn't a problem. The problem you will haveis with the wireing for the speakers. Subaru did a funky common ground thing with the gl's. What this means is that the front and rear speakers share the ground wire where as a new radio has its own ground for each speaker. you need to rewire the fronts and only use the rear speaker wires that are at the factory plug in the dash. send me a message if you have more questions

a coworker of mine had a gl 10, he said to hell with the HG's he just buys a new junkyard longblock for it. says he got the longblocks for 200bux, no reason to doubt him.
